જીવનચરિત્ર: પીડ પરાઈ જાણે રે ! – સરળ ભાષામાં
આદિ કવિ નરસિંહ મહેતાનું નામ સાંભળી ગુજરાતીનું મન ભક્તિથી ભરાઈ જાય. તેમનો જન્મ તળાજામાં થયો; જીવન જૂનાગઢમાં વીત્યું.
નાનપણમાં માતા-પિતા ગુમાવ્યાં; ભાઈ-ભાભીના મેણાંથી દુઃખી થઈ શિવ-આરાધના કરી અને કૃષ્ણભક્તિ પામી.
તેમણે ઊંચ-નીચના ભેદ ભૂલી સૌને સમાન ગણ્યા. ‘વૈષ્ણવ જન તો તેને કહીએ, જે પીડ પરાઈ જાણે રે’ – ગાંધીજીનું પ્રિય ભજન.
