About the writer: Bholabhai Patel
Bholabhai Patel (1934–2012), born in Soja (Gandhinagar), was an essayist, translator and critic – ‘દેવોની ઘાટી’, ‘પૂર્વોત્તર’ – and won the Ranjitram Suvarnachandrak.

શહેરમાં વર્ષોથી રહેતા લેખકે ગામડાનું જૂનું ઘર વેચી દેવાનો નિર્ણય લીધો. ઘર ખાલી હતું, જર્જરિત થવા લાગ્યું હતું.
પણ ઘરમાં પગ મૂક્યો ત્યાં જ માતાની યાદો તાજી થઈ – રસોડું, ઓટલો, તુલસીક્યારો, તહેવારો…
લેખકને સમજાયું – ઘર એટલે ફક્ત દીવાલો નહિ, પ્રેમ અને સ્મૃતિઓ. ‘હું’ આ ઘર વેચી નહિ શકું.
